Product Designer

Vacuumlabs is looking for a product designer to join our design team.

You’ll be joining a team of designers and engineers working on some of the most exciting projects in Europe and around the world. In our offices (London, Bratislava, Prague, Kosice, Brno, Budapest, NY, Hong Kong, San Francisco) you’ll hear our teams talking about complex projects from San Francisco to Tokyo.

We are looking for people who aren’t afraid of autonomy and responsibility. People who are eager to learn new things and get better at what they do. People who want to make an impact.

Our designers are problem solvers who craft highly usable experiences. Together with the team they help break down business and customer problems, imagine new and beautiful solutions, and help bring great experiences to life.

Here's what you will do

  • Contribute to ongoing design projects by making product improvements, as well as starting new products and features from scratch
  • Explore and communicate design concepts through sketches, user flows, low fidelity wireframes or prototypes
  • Participate in design research, user research and validation testing
  • Participate in product discussions and feature evaluations with the wider team and client
  • Work closely with engineers to bring designs to life
  • Continually grow and extend your design skills and knowledge

A typical career path

  • Junior designer (1200-1400 EUR): You have a growth mindset and work hard to gain experience and improve your skillset. Supported by more experienced designers, you work on rather simple tasks and help with more complex ones.
  • Mid-level designer (1600-2000 EUR): As an independent contributor, you are capable of working solo on projects that are already set up. Apart from moving pixels, you can identify what hypothesis is worth to be tested and design a test to validate it.
  • Senior designer (2250-3000 EUR): Apart from contributing to our most valuable design projects, you can take a leadership role if needed. Whether it’s travelling to meet a client, helping less experienced colleagues or making a design decision, you’ll manage.

All positions include benefits. Senior positions include also equity options.

Our application process

  • 1. Design Exercise
The task will be to design a product on paper in 30 minutes. You can ask us questions during the process. When the countdown ends, you will present your solution.
  • 2. Design critique
You will be searching for usability issues in the app prototype. After having 10 minutes to get familiar with the prototype, you will present us with as many usability issues as you can.
  • 3. Take-home assignment
Your homework will be to design UI(s) specified at the end of our meeting. We’ll email to you any wireframes or assets needed for completion.
  • Choose your location: Bratislava, Košice, Prague, Brno, Budapest, Remote
